Well This is New!

Ohhh my goodness! Can we all just take a minute and look at this precious photo? Over the weekend I got to photograph these two beautiful girls, and I can't get over the pictures!

I've been tossing around ideas in my head for weeks, and when I had the idea to do a Christmas Photo Booth last Tuesday, I knew I HAD to have it ready for this shoot! So, after a lot of work and a lot of fun (and some hilarious moments...a blogpost for another day) it all came together!

This is the great part...I'm offering Christmas (Photobooth-style) Minishoots!

But wait, there's more (do I sound like a commercial when I say that?)...if you book yours by December 1st, you will get your minishoot for  just $75!!!

Oh, and it's extra easy because you can now pay online

Have questions? No problem...I'm happy to answer! Email me at photobyhailey@gmail.com.

Did you get the feeling that I'm a excited about these? Cause I really, really am...In case you were wondering.

Bye for now!

What Camera Should You Buy?

One of my most frequently asked questions is “What’s a good camera to get?” Now that Christmas is around the corner there are a lot of people wondering as they look online and through the sales circulars.  While I've definitely not tested out every camera, and am not an expert, I have done some research to help answer this question. I have created two resources to help out!

The first is an email with some of the cameras you will see in the Black Friday sales (thank you Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy for posting your sales ahead of time!).

The second is a PDF that explains a few of the confusing words and abbreviations on the camera descriptions (megapixels, DX, IS, VR, etc). I'm also including recommendations for good “starter cameras”. Don’t worry, I didn’t limit it to just Nikon ;)

So be sure to enter your email address to receive your copy!  I will be sending out the email and PDF in a few days!

I decided editing a delivering photos is first priority right now, but I will try to keep you updated with previews!

Also, I have some super fun announcements coming soon, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, I hope you all like these pictures of my sister and her family as much as I do!

Things I'm Ungrateful For

Guys the rain. Two straight weeks of it. Anyone who owns a business effected by weather can probably agree with the frustration of trying to get work done the last few weeks. That includes all of you moms and babysitters right? ha!
(Ah, but the sun came out yesterday! Woohoo!)

My schedule is being messed with. I haven't been able to get enough work done. Blogging has been put on the back burner. Only the absolute essentials get done.

I'm tired...Blah, blah, blah.

Do you ever go in stages of being so content and happy, and then all of the sudden, it seems you have a problem with almost everything? My goodness. That has been me for the past two weeks! During a season of being thankful, what is wrong with me?

On Sunday my pastor was teaching from Hebrews 2 and talking about how Christians need to be constantly checking our focus. Refocus on God and what He has done, and what He is doing, and how we are living because of that.

I sit in church, take notes, and think "yes, this is what I need". I ask God to help me with this, and determine this will be an area I focus on this week.

Tuesday hits. I'm discontented in almost everything. I get cranky when plans aren't going the way I want them to. As I'm making my 45 minute drive to the house I'm staying at, I realize my focus is lost.

I think of the Psalms I've been praying through. The many many things God has done and who He is. I needed to refocus. I'm so glad that God stops us and helps us realize how silly we are acting sometimes.

If that wasn't enough, I watched this video.

Yeah, nothing to complain about.

It's the season of Thanksgiving. Remember what is important and refocus!

Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

My 5 Favorite Weekend Workouts

I really like my weekday workout routine. I have a few days where I go to the gym and/or run, and a day or two of doing home workouts in my basement. When the weekend comes, I'm ready for a break from the normal routine. I can't handle sitting around and being lazy, so there are several activities that I like to do.

1. Hiking
This has been a favorite the last few weeks because of all the beautiful fall colors. Over the last year or so I've had so much fun finding new places to explore. There are so many options within an hour or two of Atlanta! I love getting friends together for a little hiking trip.

2. Biking
I've loved biking since I was a kid, and several years ago I purchased a mountain bike. I had never even been mountain biking before, but I needed a bike and knew there were a lot of mountain biking trails in the area, so I decided to get one. Best decision! Once I started hitting those trails, I was hooked! Pick a good trail with lots of hills and it'll get your heart rate up and your legs burning. Every time I go, I think "I need to do this more often".
If you're not big on that kind of thing, find a nice smooth trail to take your bike on. We have the Silver Commit trail close by in Marietta, but there are all kinds of trails popping up in the Atlanta area.

3. Rock Climbing
Another new activity for me. My sister Lindsey would talk about how much fun it was, but it just didn't sound that fun to me. She started working at a rock climbing gym and made me join her since it was free. Hooked. Again. It was especially great during the winter months when it was freezing outside! We both got belay certified and started going about once a week. Another fantastic workout!

4. Photographing
Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding knows they can be some of the most exhausting days. So as a photographer, when I spend a Saturday at a wedding, I've gotten more than a workout in. ;) Standing and walking for 8 + hours straight with heavy cameras and lenses hanging off my shoulders will burn a few calories and send me crawling into bed at the end of the day. But it's fun... really really fun!

5. Shopping
I know, some of you are probably rolling your eyes at this one. But have you ever spent several hours at the outlet stores? Wear a little fit band, and you'll see what I'm talking about. This is a good one at Christmas time. Although I'll admit, I can only handle a few Saturday's of this. ;)

Those are just of a few favorites. There are so many other options like Kayaking, Six Flags (season passes are the best), roller blading, and playing sports (volleyball and baseball especially). It never hurts to get a nice long run in on a Saturday either!

As for this weekend, it's hiking again because I'm going camping! Woohoo!

The Mason Girls :: Lifestyle

As I was creating slides for our workshop, I was looking through pictures to share and came across my photoshoot with the Mason girls from last year. I absolutely loved this shoot, and realized I never shared it on my blog! So it's a little late, but I had to show you guys these images!

Recognize these girls? That's because they've been with me since I started this "photography thing" (blogged herehere, and here). Pictures with these girls is always a highlight! Can't wait for this year's photoshoot!
