It's been a year!

Today is a celebration day for us! Or maybe more for my dad. Because on April 1st last year, he was rushed to the hospital because of a heart attack. We found out later, he was moments away from dying.

Watching my dad be the one in the hospital was hard. Usually, he's the one getting up at 5 in the morning to go pray with others before they go into surgery, or just visit people. This time, we were visiting him.

He can't do some of the things he did before, and his heart is still damaged, but he is alive and I couldn't be happier!

Seriously I have the best dad ever! He is the most selfless person I know. Never thinking about himself or what he's going through, but always about others. He couldn't be more committed to his church or his family. He works endlessly for others. Always serving and helping others.

I'm so inspired by his discipline. Since his heart attack he's changed his lifestyle completely. One of the hardest changes(i think) would be his diet. I'm a girl and i love yummy and unhealthy food…so I can't even image how hard it's been for him as a man! He eats a gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and many other "free" foods diet. Basically it's a fun free diet! ;-) That pretty much leaves his food options to grilled chicken, salads, and peppers. Well, not really, but you get my point…it's very limited.

I couldn't be more proud of him. And i'm pretty thankful he's willing to make these sacrifices because, well ya know, I really like having him around.

So happy celebration day, dad! I'm glad God has let you stay here with us. And thanks for the way you lead our family. Both with the things you say, and the godly lifestyle you live. I love you.

These are a few pictures from our little day trip to Red Top Mountain last week.

Mom definitely deserves a shout out as well! She's the one who comes up with creative meals, helps him stay on track with medications, and many many other things. She's a very supportive wife. I think dad's pretty lucky ;-)

  1. We thank the Lord for sparing your Dad's life too! He is a wonderful godly man and we don't know what we'd do without him! He adds so much to the ministry of Calvary Baptist Church You've always been a close family, but I think God drew you all even closer to Him and to each other through that difficult time! Again, we celebrate with your family in thanking God!
